The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season is set to begin, and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R heads into 2026 with serious momentum. Chevrolet’s global GT3 contender is coming off an impressive 2025 campaign that included a GTD class victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, an overall win at VIRginia International Raceway, and sweeping the GTD PRO Manufacturers’, Drivers’, and Teams’ championships. With that success behind them, expectations are sky-high for the upcoming season.
Five Corvettes Set for Full-Season Competition
The 2026 championship opens once again with the legendary Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. This season, five Corvettes will compete full-time across IMSA’s all-professional GTD PRO class and the Pro-Am GTD class.

Meanwhile, Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports continues its long-standing No. 3 and No. 4 entries, with the only driver lineup change being the addition of Marvin Kirchhöffer for endurance rounds in the No. 3 Corvette.

The Challenge Begins at Daytona
IMSA presents a unique test for teams, starting with its most demanding event of the year: 24 hours on the Daytona International Speedway road course in Daytona Beach, Florida. It’s a race that sets the tone for the entire season.
Veteran driver Tommy Milner, now entering his 15th year with Corvette Racing and a previous Daytona class winner, understands the magnitude of the event. With IMSA competition tighter than ever, teams must execute flawlessly from start to finish. A strong performance at Daytona not only earns prestige—it provides critical momentum for the championship battle ahead.
A Competitive 11-Race Schedule
The IMSA schedule spans 11 rounds across North America, culminating in the 10-hour Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in October. While most of the calendar remains unchanged for 2026, Road America now becomes a six-hour endurance race, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course event shifts to a two-hour, 40-minute sprint format.
The Z06 GT3.R remains largely the same as its championship-winning 2025 configuration. Although IMSA competitors will use a newly designed tire this season, changes are expected to be minimal in overall performance impact.

Corvette Racing’s Winning Tradition
With packed grids featuring production-based race cars from multiple manufacturers, the GTD PRO and GTD classes are among the most competitive in sports car racing. Still, Corvette teams have consistently proven they know how to win—collecting race victories and championships year after year.
As the green flag drops on the 2026 season, the Corvette legacy continues with confidence and championship ambitions.
