Chevrolet Unveils Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concepts

Meet the Future: Chevrolet Unveils Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concepts

Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. Concept vehicles shown. Not available for sale. MONTEREY, Calif. – Chevrolet unveiled a bold glimpse into the future of high-performance design today with the debut of two striking Corvette concept vehicles—the Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo —at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. Though not destined for production, both concepts are set to influence Corvette's design direction for years to come, drawing from over 70 years of performance heritage. These are the final Corvette concepts revealed this year as part of a global GM design exercise. Created at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, Michigan, the CX and CX.R showcase the creative freedom of GM’s global design teams. “The shape of a Corvette has always been expressive and aspirational,” said Phil Zak, executive design director for Chevrolet. “With the CX and CX.R, our teams stepped beyond production constraints to unleash creativity—and define where Corvette design is headed.” Front view of Corvette CX and side view of with canopy open. Concept vehicle shown. Not available for sale. Corvette CX Concept: A Vision of Road and Track Performance The Corvette CX imagines a future street-legal supercar built from the ground up for ultimate performance. Signature Corvette cues remain—such as a forward-thrusting nose, dual-element taillights, and the horizontal “chine” line—while its sleek, low-slung proportions and under-41-inch roofline give it a futuristic edge. Its sculpted body was shaped in collaboration with the GM Motorsports Aero Group, optimizing every surface for performance. A Vacuum Fan System pulls air through the open bodywork to generate downforce, while active front and rear aero components dynamically adjust to enhance grip and balance. The wing-shaped suspension A-arms further refine airflow and reduce lift. Underneath, the CX is powered by an all-wheel-drive electric setup with four motors (one per wheel), delivering over 2,000 horsepower. The 90-kWh lithium-ion battery, placed low in the chassis, ensures balanced weight distribution and a low center of gravity. Four-wheel torque vectoring enables precision cornering and grip. Inside, the CX delivers a fighter-jet-like experience. A canopy raises automatically upon approach, revealing Inferno Red ballistic textile seats, premium materials like silicone leather and forged carbon fiber, and a driver-centric cabin. A digital windscreen overlays real-time performance data, with controls elegantly integrated into the steering wheel for minimal distraction. Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo: Track-Only Performance, Game-Ready Design For over 25 years, Corvette’s production and racing programs have developed in tandem—and the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo reflects that legacy. Created solely for competition, the CX.R VGT evolves the CX’s aggressive styling into a purpose-built racecar, set to appear in Gran Turismo 7 later this month. Its yellow and black livery pays homage to Corvette Racing’s past, while enhanced active aero and a lowered stance maximize track-ready downforce. Lightweight construction and a stripped-down interior, featuring raw carbon fiber and suede inserts, emphasize functionality and performance. Heavily bolstered seats offer the head and neck support required for high-speed maneuvers. While the CX is fully electric, the CX.R VGT blends electrification with visceral combustion. A mid-mounted 2.0L twin-turbo DOHC V8, revving to 15,000 rpm and producing up to 900 hp, powers the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Three electric motors —two at the front wheels and one in the gearbox—deliver additional torque and bring total system output to 2,000 hp. The V8 runs on renewable e-fuel, combining sustainability with performance. Both the CX and CX.R VGT were engineered with real-world detail, from their chassis to aerodynamics. Chevrolet partnered with Polyphony Digital Inc., developers of Gran Turismo 7, to bring these designs to life in-game, allowing fans to experience the future of Corvette performance virtually.

“Lightning” Larry Ragland’s Truck

Team Chevrolet Showcases Off-Road Racing Icon “Lightning” Larry Ragland’s Truck

Off-road racing legend “Lightning” Larry Ragland is bringing a true icon of desert racing to Las Vegas, as his celebrated Trophy Truck—known as “Arnold”—goes on display at Team Chevrolet, located at 5501 Drexel Road. Racing fans and motorsports enthusiasts will have the rare chance to see this historic vehicle up close during regular store hours. Ragland, a five-time SCORE Trophy Truck overall champion, is one of the most accomplished drivers in the history of off-road racing. He ranks second in all-time wins and was honored with induction into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2016. Known for his smooth, aggressive driving style and strategic precision, Ragland helped define an era of desert racing excellence. The Trophy Truck on display, affectionately named “Arnold,” made its debut at the legendary Baja 1000 in 1995—where it won what remains the longest version of the race, stretching from Tijuana to La Paz. Arnold continued its dominance with wins in 1996, 1997, and 1999, along with a strong second-place finish in 1998. Now, nearly three decades later, Arnold is back in the spotlight. In 2024, Ragland returned to competition behind the wheel of the same truck at the NORRA 1000, where he not only finished the grueling event but won his class—proving that both the machine and its driver still have what it takes. Remarkably, the truck remains 95 percent true to its original 1994 build. It still features one of its original engines and transmissions, along with key components such as the trailing arms, A-arms, and gauges from the original configuration. The exhibit offers a rare glimpse into a defining piece of off-road history and a testament to Ragland’s enduring legacy in motorsports.

Introducing the 2026 Corvette ZR1X: A true American hypercar

Front 3/4 view of Blade Silver Corvette ZR1X and Sebring Orange Tintcoat Corvette ZR1X Convertible with ZTK Performance Package. Preproduction model shown, actual production model may vary. Chevrolet has unveiled an all-wheel-drive Corvette that truly deserves the legendary ZR1 title: the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X. With an astounding 1,250 horsepower and electrified all-wheel-drive performance, the ZR1X stands as a genuine American hypercar and represents the most advanced Corvette to date. Together with the ZR1, Chevrolet now offers the most powerful performance car duo ever produced by an American automaker. Key Features of the ZR1X: LT7 Twin-Turbo V8: 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm, 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm Front-Axle Electric Motor: 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque GM-estimated 0-60 mph: Under 2 seconds GM-estimated ¼ Mile Time: Under 9 seconds, with a trap speed of over 150 mph “From the very beginning, we designed the mid-engine Corvette platform with the ZR1X in mind,” said Ken Morris, General Motors Senior Vice President. “This is the most groundbreaking platform in Corvette’s history, offering a diverse range of American sports cars while delivering exceptional performance at every level.” New Corvette ZR1X badge on 2026 Corvette ZR1X in Blade Silver Metallic. Preproduction model shown, actual production model may vary. Unmatched Power and Traction The ZR1X starts with the ZR1’s LT7 V8 engine, producing more horsepower than any other V8 engine built by an American manufacturer — 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This 5.5-liter Gemini small-block V8, hand-assembled with a forged flat-plane crankshaft, finger-follower valvetrain, and dry-sump lubrication, was developed alongside the naturally aspirated flat-plane crank engines found in the Corvette Z06 and Z06 GT3.R race car. Key highlights of this V8 include: Dual 76-mm Turbochargers “Maniturbo” Exhaust Design, integrating the manifold and turbo housing to minimize throttle lag by reducing the time needed to build boost Dynamic Anti-Lag Technology, which maintains turbo speed when off-throttle for quick boost recovery upon acceleration While the ZR1 emphasized rear-wheel drive, the ZR1X takes performance to new heights by incorporating all-wheel-drive. Benefiting from the 2024 E-Ray’s innovative electrified AWD system, the ZR1X combines a high-voltage battery and electric motor to power the front axle, while the V8 drives the rear. These two systems are entirely independent, and the electrified drivetrain does not require external charging — energy is regenerated via the front drive unit. The ZR1X’s battery pack, positioned low within the car's chassis for optimal weight distribution, is engineered to handle rapid power bursts and quick charging cycles. This pack, though sharing the same 1.9 kWh capacity as the E-Ray, now provides enhanced energy efficiency for better lap times. This improvement increases the peak operating voltage, further enhancing power output from the front motor. The compact electric motor on the front axle offers 186 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque when needed. Although the ZR1X's front electric motor mirrors the E-Ray unit’s size and shape, it is strengthened with upgraded components, resulting in an additional 26 hp and 20 lb-ft of torque. The front axle operates up to 160 mph before disengaging, significantly improving ZR1X’s quarter-mile performance and track handling. Front 3/4 view of 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X in Blade Silver Metallic. Preproduction model shown, actual production model may vary. Two Systems, One Unified Mission The eAWD system, initially developed for the E-Ray, has been significantly refined for the ZR1X. The integration of the LT7 engine’s specific characteristics allows the ZR1X to seamlessly blend power from both axles, ensuring responsive handling and traction in all driving conditions. On the track, ZR1X automatically adjusts to track session needs and driver preferences, optimizing performance through: Endurance Mode – Tailored to extend battery life and provide consistent all-wheel-drive power for prolonged track sessions Qualifying Mode – Maximized power strategy designed to achieve the fastest lap times Push-to-Pass Mode – Instantaneous full-power delivery at the driver’s command Additionally, PTM Pro, debuting in 2026 across all Corvettes, is optimized for the ZR1X. This setting provides the most pure driving experience by disabling traction and stability control but retaining: Regenerative Brake Torque Vectoring – For energy recovery without compromising agility Front Axle Pre-Control – Adjusting brake pressure to optimize corner-exit traction Launch Control – Customizable settings for rapid acceleration from a standstill Maximum Control On and Off the Track The ZR1X’s performance is matched by its braking prowess. The J59 Brake Package, standard on the ZR1X and optional on the ZR1, is a new design focused on superior heat resistance and highly responsive braking performance. Featuring Alcon 10-piston front and 6-piston rear calipers paired with 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors, this is the most advanced braking system ever tested by GM. During testing, Corvettes equipped with the J59 package were able to achieve an incredible 1.9G of deceleration from 180 mph to 120 mph. ZR1X offers two chassis configurations, both featuring magnetic ride control for optimal suspension tuning based on driving mode, road conditions, and driver input. The standard setup, paired with Michelin PS4S tires, provides a blend of comfort and track capability, while the available ZTK Performance Package offers a firmer suspension and is paired with Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tires, elevating the ZR1X’s performance to the highest level. For those seeking even more downforce, the Carbon Aero Package is available, adding dive planes, underbody strakes, a hood lip, and an effective rear wing that generates up to 1,200 lbs of downforce at top speed. This package is standard on ZTK-equipped ZR1X models. The Ultimate Corvette Performance Car The 2026 Corvette ZR1X is the pinnacle of the eighth-generation Corvette, offering a no-compromise performance package. Whether you're looking for an all-day tourer, a blistering straight-line rocket, or a precision track machine, ZR1X delivers. It will be available in both coupe and hardtop convertible body styles, featuring the newly updated Corvette interior, which includes a modern three-screen layout, a redesigned console, real-time vehicle data via the Performance App, and new premium materials and color options. Every ZR1X will be assembled at General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky, with components sourced from the U.S. and worldwide. Each LT7 engine will be meticulously hand-assembled by GM's expert engine builders at the Bowling Green Performance Build Center. Pricing and availability details will be shared closer to production. 1,064 horsepower from the LT7 5.5L V8 engine combined with 186 horsepower from the front electric motor. 2 On a closed course only, based on initial vehicle movement. 3 Assembled in Bowling Green, Kentucky using both U.S. and globally sourced components.

Chevy Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept tackles the Mint 400

Chevrolet unveiled the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the legendary Mint 400 off-road race, where the truck will also compete in the notorious event as part of the Hall Racing team’s lineup. The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept joins the team’s Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 race trucks, and Chad Hall will drive the all-electric off-road race truck in the Open Production EV class. “There is no better proving ground to test the limits of our vehicles than competitive racing,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept, which uses 98% GM production parts, showcases some of the best of Chevrolet to produce a beyond-capable pickup to tackle a challenging race of the Mint 400’s magnitude.” Though a concept, the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck follows the same winning ZR2 formula as the Colorado ZR2 and Silverado ZR2: Lifted, front and rear suspension with specific off-road tuning that continues to deliver on the pavement Multimatic damper technology Locking differentials Underbody skid protection The high-performance, off-road Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept came to life quickly, after only five months of development, and features roughly 98% GM production parts. The cornerstone of the race truck’s off-road chops is prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve continuously adaptive dampers. These dampers provide off-road performance for the more than 13 inches of front and rear wheel travel. Combined with the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck’s 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires, and a tri-motor electric propulsion system that creates 1,100 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, the race truck concept more than earns the ZR2 badge. No stranger to the desert and off-road racing, Chevrolet engineers will embed themselves with the Chad Hall Racing team to analyze the race truck’s performance, durability and capability. Each learning will be applied to production vehicles, performance parts and accessories from Chevrolet. Today, more than 44 off-road performance parts and accessories are available for customers to buy for production trucks. "Working with the Chevy engineers is always a good day at the office," said Chad Hall, primary driver and owner of Hall Racing race team lead. "What we learn from racing is applied to vehicles consumers can buy. An off-road race like The Mint 400 is equivalent to a lifetime of vehicle wear and tear.” Hall Racing first started competing in a stock production class in a Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 in 2017. Since then, the team has finished 53 of 54 races entered. The Silverado ZR2 race truck concept’s reveal comes as Chevy prepares to launch this summer the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss, its first off-road oriented EV variant. Trail Boss is a more off-road capable Silverado EV with a factory-installed lift, 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires and red tow hooks. New Terrain Mode gives the truck increased maneuverability in tight spaces. Team Chevrolet has the Silverado EV in stock now and ready for immediate delivery. ChevyTrucks

Seventy years ago, a revolution began

In late 1954, Chevrolet took the wraps off its model-year 1955 line of Task Force pickup trucks. The first full redesign of Chevy pickups since 1947, the ‘55s were a bold step forward in technology and design. Not only were they stylish, comfortable, and capable – these trucks helped introduce the small-block V8 engine to the world. The small-block V8 represented a paradigm shift in engine technology. The overhead-valve design optimized the flow of air and fuel into the combustion chamber, improving fuel efficiency while boosting horsepower. True to its name, the small-block V8 is compact and lightweight, packing dependable power in a tidy package. Soon, this engine found its way into vehicles across the Chevy lineup, making V8s available to everyday American car buyers. Soon, the small-block caught the attention of racers and hotrodders. The engine’s power potential and tidy dimensions made it ideal for purpose-built race cars, show cars, speedboats, and all kinds of experimental vehicles. Chevy began selling the small-block as a crate engine, a complete powerplant ready to be transplanted into your automotive dream project. As the muscle-car era took off, Chevy developed a larger, more powerful V8 engine. This big-block variant went on to power hard-working trucks and commercial vehicles, high-performance sport models, and large luxury cars. Still, the small-block endured as the quintessential American V8. Over the past 70 years, GM estimates it has built over 100 million small-block V8s for Chevrolet. The 2025 Silverado 1500 continues that tradition by offering the largest and most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in the segment: the 6.2-liter small-block V8, generating 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. From the job site to outdoor adventures, today’s small-block powered Silverado brings toughness, technology, and capability to any task. The small-block V8 engine may have been born 70 years ago, but its future with GM is bright. This engine is more powerful, durable, and efficient than ever before. A redesigned sixth-generation small-block is coming soon, which will further enhance everything drivers love about this legendary American engine. In 2023, General Motors invested $854 million to support production of the sixth-generation small-block V8 across plants in Michigan, Ohio and New York. The Chevy small-block V8 will continue to be an American automotive success story.

Silverado EV

2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV offers up to 492 Miles of range and new trim levels

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV launches later this year in three distinct trims with more range, content, and price options for retail and commercial customers. Range: With 492 miles 1, the 2025 Silverado EV with Max Range sets the new standard as the range leader for electric trucks. The 2024 Silverado EV already was the range leader, and for this new model year we’ve set the bar even higher,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “A second barrier to entry is price, so we are fortifying the Silverado EV lineup by providing more choice. For 2025, we’re introducing an LT trim, offering a more affordable RST package and expanding WT offerings. This increased capability and accessibility is great news for the segment, the industry, and the brand.” Introducing Silverado EV LT The LT trim is available on the Silverado EV for the first time. More choices will be available for Work Truck – including a new Slate Gray exterior color. More range available on RST The Silverado EV RST will be available with two different battery pack options and offers a max range of 460 miles 3. The 2025 Silverado EV RST also includes Sidewinder as standard equipment. Sidewinder, one of Silverado EV RST’s standard four-wheel steering modes, allows all four wheels to turn in the same direction and move the truck diagonally at speeds up to 20 mph. The feature, selectable from the infotainment screen, gives drivers a new way to conquer everything from rugged terrain to tight parking spaces. The RST is available in six exterior colors, including trim-exclusive Zephyr Blue Matte Metallic. Corvette ZR1

Corvette ZR1 hits 233 mph

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is now the fastest car ever built by an American auto manufacturer. At a test track in Germany, General Motors President Mark Reuss drove a 2025 Corvette ZR1 233 mph, setting a top speed record unrivaled by any current production car priced under $1 million. The Corvette team set this two-way average speed on the northbound and southbound straightaways of the High-Speed Oval Track at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg, in a recent test in Papenburg, Germany. “Setting the top-speed record in the Corvette ZR1 is a true triumph for Corvette and for Chevrolet, and also an exhilarating, surreal experience for me personally,” said Reuss. “With the current generation’s switch to mid-engine, we knew the outstanding performance and balance made this a real possibility. To go over there and get it done is a testament to the power of ZR1, and to the incredibly talented team that developed and built it. The ZR1 features the most powerful V8 engine ever produced in America by an auto manufacturer. Corvette shifted to mid-engine architecture in 2020, unlocking new levels of performance and innovation. Chevrolet engineers leveraged GM’s deep software, modeling, and hardware development knowledge to set a new speed benchmark for American automakers. Facts about Corvette ZR1’s record-setting run: The ZR1 coupe which set the record had a standard chassis and aero package, with a standard spoiler with short wicker, carbon fiber ground effects, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and aluminum wheels. Chevrolet engineers developed Top Speed Mode, exclusively for closed course use, which adjusts chassis control systems for maximum speed. The ZR1 reached 233 mph with the engine at redline in sixth gear. During testing, including Reuss’s record run, an engineer was in the passenger seat analyzing data in real-time. The 233-mph run was not a one-off performance. Five engineers and both ZR1 development cars onsite exceeded 230 mph across multiple runs. Papenburg provided optimal conditions, such as temperature and air density, for a high-speed test. Chevrolet engineers have previously set top speeds for the sixth and seventh generation Corvette ZR1, and the sixth generation Camaro ZL1 at this facility. The ZR1 is the fastest car GM has ever produced. The 2025 Corvette ZR1 has the following features: A 5.5L, twin-turbocharged LT7 DOHC flat-plane crank V8 engine 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, per SAE guidelines — the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer A GM-estimated sub-10-second quarter mile time Purposeful carbon fiber aero package creating over 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed A revival of one of the most iconic styles in Corvette history: the split rear window Did you know...
